Trigg: Headquarters of West Australian Surfing
Trigg is Perth's unofficial surfing headquarters — it's home to the offices of Surfing WA, and the beach and point break here run over a limestone reef shelf that holds a wave at pretty much any tide. It's exposed to the full force of the Indian Ocean, which makes it fairly consistent by WA standards, and it works best on a west-southwest groundswell paired with the area's typical easterly offshore morning winds.
Winter (roughly May to August) is the prime season, with June statistically the most reliable month for clean conditions. The reef and rocky outcrops mean it rewards local knowledge more than some of the softer beach breaks further south, and it's not unusual to spot bottlenose dolphins working the same stretch of water as the surfers.
