Sunshine Beach: Noosa's Open-Coast Backup
Sunshine Beach runs south from the Noosa Heads headland as a long, open stretch of sand — a different animal from the sheltered point breaks a few kilometres north inside Noosa National Park. Because it faces more directly into incoming swell, it works well when those famous points are too small to ride, or when a northerly wind (which the headland blocks at the points) is blowing everything out over there.
Underlying reef and channel structure gives the beach several distinct peaks rather than one uniform bank, and on a good day these can hold shape and run for a genuine distance — locals rate it as one of the better beach breaks on this stretch of the Sunshine Coast.
